Self Care

I went to what most women fear and dread today.... the annual well woman gynecological exam... dun dun DUUUUUUNNNN!!!!

It's not so terrible. I came home and told my 11 year old daughter GH (who started bleeding this year) that after her next moon I will schedule an appointment for her first well woman visit. She was scared at first, but reassured after I let her in on the knowledge that this is a part of taking care of yourself as a woman. We go to make sure that we are healthy and strong and able to do the things each day that our family, friends and community expect out of us.

I will get results in two weeks, but she said everything looks visually healthy. My weight is down lower than when the Fella and I got together... by nearly 15#! Call me shocked!

In taking care of the world around us, we often forget that our ability to do so hinges on our own health, be it physical, mental or spiritual.
Today, take some time to make the appointment you need to make. Take some time for yourself, even 15 minutes. take some times to balance your mental clarity and your spiritual presence in all of your tasks. When we don't take care of ourselves, the spirit of why we take care of others and do things for others gets lost. First love yourself.
